Without thinking too hard and if you have pen a paper to hand just draw a simple image. before reading any further.
What did you draw? Was it something circular and flowing or was it something boxy and straight?
The odds are that it was something circular and flowing because that is what I am finding in my very small informal and unscientific exploration. In fact, most likely your drawing relates in some way to a Fibonacci spiral.
This symbol is known as the Golden Ratio and according to Matthew Cross in his TED lecture it symbolises the connection between all life in the universe, it is the geometry of our DNA. These spirals can be found right across the natural world and also relate to the beauty we see in the human face. Many famous works of art are formed on the golden ratio including those by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Obviously my work on this symbolism is totally unscientific but it has led me to find out more about something that is totally and fascinatingly based on mathematical formulae that has been known about for centuries. According to physicists - the Golden Ratio guides matter and movement of energy across our universe.
The Fibonacci spiral is seems is the shape of nature. It can certainly be found in the shape of a Seahorse which is already the symbol for Nature Therapy CIC.
