About Wolf Medicine

Wolf is a symbol of strength and protection. Qualities all of us need at some point in our lives. Wolves walk their own path supported by the incredible gift of super senses. This programme is about enhancing your senses so you can walk your own path. It is about finding your unique inner way of being so that you can live in harmony and peace with the world. Come and join us, have some fun, and learn to super sense yourself through foot stepping with your inner wolf. |
What we do
|
Originally designed for those in recovery, anyone who feels they need a little extra strength in their lives can benefit from participating in Wolf Medicine. This week long course is a five day journey of Nature Quests aimed at helping you find your own inner power to bring about transformational change. You are the expert in your own life.
Day one starts with a Quest to find your inner wolf and discover what messages they have been keeping safe for you. On this Quest we use a ritual practiced for lifetimes across different ancient cultures. The second Quest involves walking alongside your wolf so they give you strength to release those things that no longer serve a purpose in your life. On this Quest you will learn about an ancient symbol that has been used around the world for thousands of years as part of a Releasing Ceremony. For more information on Labyrinths click on the button below. The third Quest is about exploring how to be in the moment using nature to guide you. This Quest is the beginning of super sensing yourself. The fourth Quest is finding the path that is right for you and setting your future intentions. On this Quest you get to interact with gentle horses. The fifth Quest is about connecting with your wolf as you take your first steps into a brave new world with this power animal by your side. This is the Quest that brings you into direct contact with these beautiful creatures to enable a deeper connection with your own wolf. We use therapeutic tools such as creative art and mindfulness but mostly it involves the powerful impact of being in nature and exploring your senses. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see pictures of the fabulous wolves you will be interacting with. Please note there is no direct physical interaction. You can communicate with them through body language and through howling. We also spend time meditating with them. Once you have completed the initial course you are welcome to attend follow on Nature Quests and workshops. The course is facilitated by Dr Kim Brown alongside volunteers with personal experience of Wolf Medicine. |

Evaluation Summary
An evaluation report from delivery of Wolf Medicine to 92 people showed the most significant findings to be a sustained reduction in anxiety, an improvement in feelings of connection and social relationships, as well as a shift towards hope for a more positive future.
A focus on the spiritual dimension of human existence was a key factor in participants finding the strength to own their power and become experts in their own lives.
A high proportion of participants were found to process sensory information at a deeper level than the majority of the population. This scientifically proven way of being, known as Highly Sensitive People (HSP), is where individuals process sensory information at a level which causes them emotional and psychological distress. Learning more about being HSP and how to manage this way of being was cited by participants as a meaningful part of Wolf Medicine.

Testimonial
'During the course we were able to experience some ancient healing practices from the Druids and Native Americans among others, such as forest bathing, smudging, Medicine Wheel, walking the labyrinth etc.
It was mostly about how to harness your inner powers (strength and intuition) and work with the energy of the universe to let go of things that hurt you and manifest things that serve you and your higher purpose. There was silent waiting so we could tap into our deep connection with nature as an aid - which really resonated with me and spoke to my condition'

Professional Information
Wolves in animal assisted psychotherapy: real, archetypal and mythical
The wolf is a symbol of strength and protection, qualities we all need frequently in our lives, especially following trauma. Wolves symbolise self-direction and agency. They walk their own path, using the gift of super senses and an ability to survive in extreme circumstances.
Wolf Medicine is a social form of animal assisted psychotherapy that helps participants to explore the connection between their outer and inner landscapes. We work with a process called super-sensing - like the wolf - to help participants develop their own power to walk their unique path through life with strength and ownership.
This involves ancient knowledge and metaphor from eclectic sources such as the medicine wheel, Celtic standing stones and barrows, pre Christian labyrinths - and spending time with live wolves and horses.
This approach is suitable for most people who want some extra strength in their lives. We are happy to discuss this innovative combining of contemporary and ancient approaches to healing in relation to those with addictions as well as traumatised and highly sensitive people.
